How to know the right ip address in a server which let you access the internet?

Hi i think I know how to get some ip addresses and others. All I did was go on your pc. Go to the start menu, were it says search at the bottom, ( I think it says search I'm not at a pc at the moment I'm on phone). Then I think you type in the search CMD, if it's right a black box should come up, when it does type in the box (IPCONFIG). and then it should give you what you need. Hope this works and helps.
