My new boyfriend still has creepy gifts from his Ex around..what should I say?

My new guy and I have been dating for a month and he asked me to officially be his girlfriend a week ago.Problem is he still has some gifts that I assume are from his ex who he broke up with 4 months ago on display in his apartment,such as a large stuffed cat on one couch that says I love you and a huge red stuffed heart on the other couch,and a Happy Anniversary plaque on the nightstand in the bedroom and a I love you plaque in the living room!!! I dont like looking at these things anymore but dont know if I have the right to ask him to put them away yet.I really dont think he is still wanting his ex but I do think this is weird.What should I say to him??
